I’ve been going to Sunday River to ski with my family since I was a little kid. We’ve celebrated many Thanksgivings there, winter breaks, and weekend getaways. I have so many fond memories on the Sunday River property and I was so excited to go back as an adult for a three day ski trip with my dad and sister in March for some spring skiing! Hopefully things will be back to normal by next winter and you can plan a fun trip to this mountain for your family. Their 2020-2021 passes are available for purchase now.
Where to Stay
Sunday River has a bunch of options for lodging on their property. I’ve stayed at most of their hotels and condos throughout my life and have had positive experiences at all of them. I would recommend the condos if you’re going with your family or a bigger group so that everyone can have their own sleeping space and you get a full kitchen and living room to gather in. Many of their hotels and condos give you the option to ski right out onto the mountain from where you’re staying which is ideal! This time we stayed at Snow Cap Inn which was less than one minute from the main South Ridge Lodge. I have also stayed at the Jordan Hotel, Grand Summit, and some of their condos on past trips.

What to Do
We go to Sunday River to ski all day while the mountain is open and make the most of our evenings either on the property or exploring local restaurants. This trip we skied all 8 peaks over the course of our three days skiing. We ate breakfast and lunch on the mountain so we didn’t have to break from skiing for too long.
Once the mountain closes for day pass holder we usually head back to the room and get read for dinner. After dinner there are plenty of pubs and bars on the mountain to go to or you can head back to your hotel to the heated pools and hot tubs which are fun especially when it’s snowing!
