Whether it’s your first post-grad job interview or a college interview you want to look your best and that means presenting yourself in a polished and professional manner. When you walk into that interview you want to make the best possible impression which means exuding confidence and professionalism based on your interview outfit. Having participated in a number of interviews myself, this is actually an outfit that I have worn. While there are some extraneous circumstances, for the most part the day of your interview is not when you want to try your new teal eye shadow (why do you have that anyways?) or to wear anything too patterned and/or vibrant. I know this seems crazy coming from me who would wear something Lilly patterned everyday if I could, but the day of your interview is a day to wear subdued colors and patterns. While I have worn all black to an interview, I personally prefer this navy and khaki palette above.
Let’s start with the dress, I just got this dress in the mail and I am in LOVE with it. It is so flattering plus it has POCKETS! You can pair it with heels, I picked out these Sam Edelman ones because they have scalloped edges to add some feminine detail or if you prefer heels I would play it on the safe side as far as height of the heel. I also recently got very similar heels to these from Lands’ End, they are a very sensible height if you’re worried about a walking commute or stairs. I am a firm believer that everyone, gents that means you too, should have at least one tailored blazer in their wardrobe at all times. I personally have about six in a variety of colors and textures. You can find them for little money or buy a really nice one as an investment piece (get it tailored!), but that is ultimately your choice. Ladies, that hot pink blazer from Forever 21 does not count, sorry! Lastly, polish the look off with a set of pearl studs and a simple necklace. I usually stick to a simple chain, but I think that this simple statement necklace is very classy and completes the outfit.
If you have an interview coming up I hope this post was helpful to you in deciding what the appropriate attire to wear in a business environment is. I almost forgot, make sure you have a professional purse like this one and a nice leather padfolder for your resume like . Good luck!
Sending Sunshine,
Sara

The scalloped detail on those flats are so cool. Scallops just add the classiest touch!
