The summer can be the perfect time to unwind from the hustle of the year, and I personally try to take advantage of this time because for me it’s the off season at work. After an extended run in the playoffs this season I told myself that it was well deserved to have a restful and fulfilling summer. I’ve tried to do a few things this summer to pamper myself because heck I think I deserve it, we all do! Now take a moment here and think about the last time that you did something for yourself… Can you even remember when the last time this was? If you’re finding it hard to recall or you’re trying to convince yourself that your manicure from last month counts then this post is for you. Pay careful attention.
Now I mentioned that I have been treating myself, well most recently I went to the at the  to experience their Synchronicity massage, a 50-minute pulsating massage set to a perfectly crafted playlist, from their . It was perfect timing because I had just gotten engaged (who knew that this could be stressful, mainly the task of now being responsible for planning a wedding) and I was a couple weeks out from a trip home for a friend’s wedding. I wanted to alleviate some stress and my shoulder needed this.
When I arrived to the spa I was warmly greeted and an attendant whisked me away to get settled without any wait time. She guided me through their facility, gave me a cold water and showed me the waiting area which had some delicious looking snacks, then she took me to the women’s locker room area and provided me with my robe and shower shoes. I locked my belongings into a complimentary locker and scoped out the rest of the locker area which had a welcoming jacuzzi tub, steam room, and showers full stocked with fresh towels.
Next my masseuse, Kristen, came to the locker area to escort me to the room where the massage would take place. Once in the room she presented me with a selection of plant-based oils that I could choose from. I opted for the one that smelled the best. Pro tip: at this point you should fasten your hair up in a bun or ponytail so that your hair is out of the way during your service. Kristen made sure that I was comfortably settled under the covers on the heated massage bed and ensured that the temperature was to my liking. She gave me a brief overview of the service touching upon the types of music I should expect to hear, which was mostly ambient, and told me that the dome shaped fixture above my head would lower and rise during the massage. I really appreciated that she told me what to expect because sometimes it’s hard to relax if you don’t know what’s happening next.
I started face down and she worked on my arms, hands, legs, feet, back and neck. I had mentioned before the massage started that I carry a lot of my stress and pressure in my head so if she could work on that it would be much appreciated. After working out all the knots in my shoulder she worked her way up to my scalp and relieved a lot of the tension I was holding there. During most of this time I had my eyes closed and I felt like I was laying on the warm sand at a beach with music playing nearby. The massage bed is literally on top of subwoofers so the music and rhythm engulf you both audibly and physically because you can feel the vibrations through the table.
The last part of the massage I was laying on my back and she worked on my arms, hands, legs, feet, back and neck again but on the other side. To wrap up the service she took warm towels and wiped the massage oil off of my skin. After that massage Kristen told me to take my time getting up and she would be waiting outside when I was ready. I didn’t want it to end I was so blissed out from the entire service, but my experience wasn’t over yet! When I met Kristen outside the treatment room she gave me a shot of hot tea and a cold water to continue the detox process. She escorted me back to the locker area where she informed me that I could use the spa’s facilities until 8 PM that evening. Pro tip: don’t make plan after your service at Rock Spa so that you can take full advantage of the amenities. I took a refreshingly hot shower there and it felt delightful.
The next time I go back I will surely be allotting more time for myself to spend enjoying the jacuzzi and steam room. I surely won’t forget what an incredible rejuvenating experience I had and can’t encourage you enough to try it for yourself.
Thank you to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for hosting me at the Rock Spa. All opinions are my own.
