Welcome back friend! I have so many posts that I want to write revolving around what I buy on Amazon regularly, best and worst things I’ve bought, etc. So I am finally tackling one of those posts by sharing reviews on some of my most recent purchases on Amazon and whether or not I will buy it again.
Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides
I talked about these collagen peptides on my instastories this weekend because I found them on sale at our grocery store, then I got questions about how I use them so I ended up doing a little tutorial on it. Anyways, I bought these on Amazon a few months ago to see what all the hype was about. At first it took me a few days to figure out my preferred method of consumption. I read that other people put it in their coffee, smoothies, etc. then I tried just adding it to my water and it worked! So, basically this stuff is collagen peptides and has 18g of protein per serving (two scoops). It is gluten and dairy free and helps with hair/nails/skin growth, digestion, joints, and many many other things. A lot of bloggers I know are swapping out their hair/skin/nails gummies for this instead.
As I mention before, I add it to my water. In the morning I fill my 32oz. Nalgene bottle about 1/4 of the way full with water, then I add in my two scoops of powder, then fill it the rest of the way. I add some lemon juice, shake it up a bit, then let is settle for about 5 minutes. If you put powder in without water and add water on top it will just congeal and be useless. The key is to already have water in there, then add powder, then more water, shake, let it dissolve. Trust me, if you let it sit for a few minutes to dissolve there won’t be any floats in it. It is tasteless (some people claim they can taste a slight after taste) and it dissolves in water. I love it because I use it for the protein and collagen. I usually hate the taste of the cake batter or weird flavored protein powders at GNC and also dislike the texture. With this it LITERALLY dissolves in water.
Would I buy this again? YES (I have already actually)! I buy the tubs of it, but it also comes in single serving packages.
Amazon Echo Dot
We are all about home automation in our house so it was only a matter of time until we added one of these into the mix. We got just the echo dot body without additional speakers because it actually has some on it that work just fine in my opinion. We have ours in the kitchen and I love it because I can talk to it and ask it to set a timer if I am cooking or I can say “Hey Alexa, play music by John Mayer” and she just starts shuffling music until you tell her to stop (with no ads might I add). We have it synced with our thermostat and our security system also. I think there are also lightbulbs you can get that sync with it and I would totally get those too so I could ask Alexa to turn on the lights #2017problems. It might be excessive, it might not be? Ha! I just found these plugs that Alexa can control too. Totally ordering those.
Would I recommend this? Absolutely! Even if you’re going to use it just for the speakers/music I think it’s worth it because it is pretty good quality. You can also get the echo plus that has crazy good speakers. This would make a great Christmas gift!
Tyler Glamorous Laundry Wash Detergent
You’re probably reading this thinking, “this girl really bought something called glamorous laundry detergent?! Get outta here Sara!”. Ok, listen, even us bloggers try things that other bloggers are hyping about. So lately, everyone’s been raving about this Tyler Glamorous laundry detergent saying it smells amazing and they wash their towels and bedding in it. I’ve heard that the smell really sticks to what you wash it in and people are crazy about it. So I had to see for myself. I ordered the 16oz. bottle (which is TINY) for $18.99 which is pretty steep considering my Tide pods are $10.99 for 30oz.
Would I buy this again? Probably not. I washed a load of towels in it and they came out smelling extremely potent. For me the smell is too overwhelming and has a slight chemical odor to it. I have super sensitive skin and this detergent gave me a rash instantly after using one of the towels I washed in it. Although, I will add that we have friends staying with us and they LOVED the smell of these so it definitely boils down to personal preference. I like the concept here of a luxurious scented detergent, but for me this one just missed the mark.
EDIT: So since I wrote this I tried using the detergent more sparingly and that definitely helped decrease the chemical smell of the detergent I experienced initially. The first load I used it on was towels and I used it like I would regular liquid detergent. That is WAY too much in my opinion and makes the smell too potent. This time I tried using a splash of the detergent in addition to my Tide pod. This worked so much better! Also, I realized that the smell is extremely similar to my perfume I’ve been wearing since middle school. It’s Angel by Thiery Muegler, smells just like it! I am still not sure if I will buy it again because it is expensive and I wear this perfume anyways.
Berta Professional Hair Dryer
I bought this on prime day because I decide it was time to treat myself and upgrade from my $10 drug store blow dryer from college that was frying my hair. This Berta blow dryer changed my hair, guys! It dries it in record time, makes it super shiny, and is super easy for me to use with a round brush to blow it out at home. I use it with a brush similar to this one to blow it out straight.
Would I recommend this? Absolutely! If you’re looking for a professional blow dryer that is totally affordable then this is your game changer right here guys! If you’re new to giving yourself a blow-out don’t get discouraged with that nozzle and round brush. Watch some tutorials and be patient. It’s an art that takes time to master.
Amazon Basics Sheets Set
I have talked about these on instastories SO many times! We have three sets of these sheets (the stripes, the gingham, and solid). All of our friends have bought these after touching ours and a ton of you have bought them too after I posted about the gingham set. I can’t get enough of these which is why I keep buying them! (To clarify, because I’ve gotten this question: I buy multiple sets to have them for laundry purposes not because I’ve had to toss any of them). So far they are wearing just fine! Pro tip: they get softer when you wash them and also the different colors/patterns have slightly different textures. For example: our “spa blue” set is super soft and almost satin-like on the under side of the top sheet. The “grey stripe” set is like normal sheets and the “gingham plaid” had to be washed a few times to get them soft. The king set is only $25 which is very reasonable compared to other retailers!
Would I buy these again? Heck yes! I think I’ve made this abundantly clear, ha!
I just wanted to add that this post is in absolutely no way sponsored by Amazon (but hey, if they’d like to I’m game!). I am order from Amazon…too much…and I thought I’d share some of my favorites and reviews.
Hope this helps!
Best,
Sara
