READING
I recently read a book by B.A. Paris called Behind Closed Doors that I highly recommend, especially if you liked Girl on the Train and/or Gone Girl. In my opinion, the three are very similar. Funny story, I heard about this book from another blogger and I initially started listening to it as a book on tape. The blogger had RAVED about this book so I couldn’t wait to read it. I was about halfway through listening to the book and kept thinking to myself “wow this is not a good book, I would never recommend this to anyone!”. Then I realized I was listening to the wrong book! There is another book out there with the same title, but by a different author that is more 50 Shades of Gray and I do not recommend it! I linked the correct book that I DO recommend reading above! If you’re looking for another great book that is more of a spiritual read I also recommend The Shack by William P. Young. I have not seen the movie so I cannot attest to how the two compare, but this book can be read literally or metaphorically so much of it is up to you to decide what is actually happening. It really made me think which I loved!
WATCHING
Since we were cooped up for about a week and a half I watched so many new tv shows! My favorite new one is The Bold Type which is about three 20-something best friends living in New York City working for a magazine. It follows their careers, love life, and the struggles of being a recent grad! I think it’s pretty realistic, very relatable, and I love how much of an emphasis is put on how driven these girls are in their careers!
I also watched Younger which is what I would call “the best worst show”. It’s a very easy watch, light-hearted, and hilarious! It’s about a woman in her 40’s that pretends to be 26 and gets a job at a publishing house and falls in love with a 26 year old guy. Basically she lives a double life in Brooklyn and leaves her old life in New Jersey behind. Hilary Duff is in it so it was basically like watching the sequel to Lizzie McGuire!
Now Zach and I have been watching Prison Break together since my sister highly recommended it (and has seen it like four times). The first few seasons were great! They totally captured my attention and we spent a lot of time binge watching this show, then things started to go down hill on the current season we’re on (I think it’s season 4). The first 2 seasons are definitely the best and totally worth the watch especially if you’re into crime shows!
LISTENING
I am a total true crime podcast fanatic! You either get it or think it’s totally bazaar and that’s fine! So if you’re new to podcasts you can either listen to them on the Podcast app that comes on your iPhone or you can listen on .
My favorite true crime podcasts are My Favorite Murder (start from the beginning and do NOT let the title deter you they keep it very light), Criminal (you can listen to them out of order), Sword and Scale (you can listen to them out of order, but be warned this is definitely the darkest of them all). I also enjoy listening to light hearted podcasts like Reply All (listen to the episode called “#79 Boy in the Photo” first), Millennial (listen from the beginning), and Beautiful Anonymous (I listen to the one’s whose titles intrigue me).
I hope you enjoyed getting to know a little bit about what I’ve been watching/reading/listening to lately. I would love to hear what you’ve been enjoying lately in the realm of books, tv shows, and podcasts so leave me a comment below!
