This has been a post I’ve been meaning to write for months now ever since I really got into podcasts myself. I have a notebook that I jot down post ideas into and this one is underlined and circled so that I remember to add it into my content calendar. So earlier this week when I was listening to the newest episode of My Favorite Murder I remembered “Oh yeah – podcast post!”. Now here we are. So if you’re new to the podcast sphere let me start by saying that they are totally worth giving a chance. I was skeptical about them at first myself, but once you find the genres you’re interested in you will find yourself binging podcast series the same way you do Netflix shows!

This podcast is about weird things that happen on the internet involving real people. The hosts narrate the stories and in most cases track down the people the stories are about to interview them for the episode. My favorite episode is called “Boy in Photo” and is a great place to start. I think we can all agree that the internet is a fascinating thing that contains a wide variety of miscellaneous information. Sometimes the most obscure things get brought to light. This episode will make you want to go back and check which old photos you have lingering out on the internet for the world to find. Once you listen to this episode you’ll want to hear to more!

Fascinating concept where the host allows anyone to call in and he will talk to them about anything for an hour. As a listener I find this to be very interesting because of the glimpse into another lifestyle each episode shares. The people that the host Chris speaks to are all from different walks of life and have unique stories to share. Some people share more details then others, but I love hearing about how people overcame the obstacles in their lives to get to where they are today. I also find it interesting to learn how other people live! I think the episode called “Shakespeare on Molly” is a good one to start with!
Stuff Mom Never Told You
Narrated by two feminist girl bosses this one covers a wide variety of topics relevant to women. Everything from career advise, personal life, politics, current events and more. It’s like listening to your friends talk, but also educational and entertaining! I definitely skim through the titles and listen to ones that peak my interest or cover something I am interested in learning more about. A good episode to start with is called “Oprah Wasn’t Built in a Day”.
My Favorite Murder
Don’t be scared off my the title, I promise I’m not crazy for listening to this podcast. If you’re a true crime enthusiast (is that bad to say?)…If you enjoy watching Criminal Minds, SVU, Making a Murderer, etc. then you will enjoy bingeing this podcast. It’s hosted by two hilarious women from one of their living rooms and they totally make this podcast. Whether they’re go back and forth about their day or giving the narrative of a recent murder, Allie & Georgia’s delivery is very conversational which makes it feel like you’re gabbing with friends on the couch. I love their sense of humor and also find the true crime aspect very fascinating!

Being a fairly recent college grad and knowing that many of my readers are around college age or a few years post grad, this one is super relevant to us. I felt like Megan, the narrator, must’ve been a fly on the wall of my life the past few years because so much of what she talks about in regards to just life as it happens, is so incredibly relatable and reassuring that you’re probably doing just fine. I will be honest that I definitely lost interest in the more recent episodes, but the majority of them I really enjoyed listening to. It’s reassuring to know that most people are going through the same things you are, even if you think you’re alone and that everyone else has it figured out! This one you definitely should listen to in order.
I hope one or two of these podcast recommendations peaked your interest and that you’ll add them to your queue. I’d love to know what you’re listening to also. What’s your favorite podcast right now? Have you listened to any of the ones I mentioned in this post, if so what’d you think? Leave your feedback in the comments below!
