Happy Friday to you! With the weekend upon us I want to introduce a new series that I am starting on SMDC called ‘Gluten Free Fridays’ where I introduce you to restaurants in the Tampa Bay area that offer gluten free options. I am kicking it off with my absolute favorite local spot, bartaco! If you are a reader that lives in CT, GA, TN, NY, or VA it’s your lucky day because there is a bartaco location near you.
You know you are in gluten free heaven when the menu marks things that DO have gluten which means that the rest of the menu is safe for those of us who avoid gluten. There are even fried items on the menu that are safe if you are gluten free. Do you see why this place is my food heaven (next best after Publix GreenWise or Whole Foods)!
So now that I shared with you that bartaco is the land of all things scrumptiously gluten free, I am going to let you in on another secret that I have mentioned in a previous post here. They also have a #bartacosecret taco every month. Think of it like the secret menu at Starbucks. This month you can get a lobster taco that has cilantro, hominy and a brown butter sauce. Lobster is my favorite so I jumped at the opportunity to have a lobster taco, or five!
If you are looking for a place to do lunch or dinner this weekend I highly recommend trying it out. You will for sure be adding into your weekly go-to restaurant rotation, trust me.
Sending Sunshine,
Sara
*Disclaimer: People maintain a gluten free diet for a multitude of reasons. Some people like myself have allergies to gluten, wheat, barley, rye, etc. and the reactions to these allergies can vary from person to person. So something that might be fine for me to eat, may not be ok for you. It is important that you are aware of your food allergy and reactions to it. It is also extremely important to inform your server of your food allergy prior to ordering and if it is a more severe allergy I would recommend asking to speak with the chef who will be preparing your food. It is better to air on the side of caution when it comes to your health.
