There are a lot of new eyes of my blog lately so I thought I would share some things about me that you might not already know! I did enlist the help of my sister and close friend to come up with some of these ideas. If you read until the end I’ll add in a few bonus facts that my sister thought I should share!
I love being outdoors
When I was younger I used to go to “nature camp” at the Audubon Society which most of you probably have no idea what that is. Well, it was the highlight of my summer back in the day when I got to go study the marshes of Cape Cod. #nerdalert Turns out it didn’t help me later in life in biology class though. Even to this day I love walking trails, hiking (not a lot of this in Florida), kayaking, rope swings, swimming, all of it. Florida wilderness kind of scares me, I prefer the great outdoors of New England.
I have two younger sibling
My younger brother, Patrick, is currently in college studying Business. We are three years apart and used to build forts in our backyard together with 2×4’s and jump ropes. Him and his girlfriend of six years are coming to visit next month and I can’t wait for them to be here mostly so they can meet our dogs. My younger sister, Molly, is six years younger than me and she is my mini me. We both say that if we look in the mirror too long or look at too many pictures of ourselves we start to see each other (or our mom). She is currently deciding on where she wants to attend college in the fall and unfortunately for me I couldn’t get her to consider Florida!
I went to an all girls school from 6-12th grade and graduated in with a class of 11 other girls.
This is always my go-to “fun fact” because it really throws people for a loop. Most people can’t even fathom how this works or how I could’ve possibly enjoyed it. I LOVED wearing a uniform for seven years, the only decisions I had to make were “hmmm navy or white shirt today and white, gray, or navy knee socks?”. I still have my kilt because it’s kind of a prized possession. I worked my butt off at that school all those years! Seriously though, my years there were way harder than college. It was extremely rigorous academically and prepared me so well for college, internships, and post-grad jobs. I guess most people credit their college with those types of things, no way it’s my high school! My sister goes there now and it’s her last year (she has a few of my old teachers that sometimes slip up and call her Sara). It makes me sad that the legacy ends this year!
I met my fiancé the first weekend of college
Can you say fate? If you missed it I did an entire post on how we met earlier this week. It was literally move-in weekend when we met and we started dating three months later and never stopped!
I have two dogs and want more pets
My dogs are my children. They make my heart so full, they are so funny, and have their own personalities (And their own instagram). Jax is our rescue pup (possibly a poodle x schnauzer mix) and is a total momma’s boy. He thinks he’s a kid, loves to be held, he’s so smart, learns new tricks so fast, and also responds to “baby”. Henry is our little french named after Henry Winkler aka the Fonz from Happy Days because he has a spot that looks like a sideburn. He is such a ham and loves when we take him places for people to fuss over him. He’s seriously so dramatic. He’s recently become more obedient and is learning more tricks because he is so food motivated. #DoItForTheCookie Now I said I want more pets, Zach wants another dog which is NOT happening. Once we get a house I would love to get a chicken coop with some hens. My family hatched chickens a few times and raised them while I was growing up. I loved those chickens and having fresh eggs every day is such a luxury!
I love photography
I’ve always been artistic and have taken years of art classes. I love to paint, draw, and I’ve dabbled in photography throughout the years. This past fall though I upgraded my camera and lens for my blog and had to learn how to use a DSLR basically. Once I figured it out I started reading about photography, watching youtube videos on it, and before I knew it I was pretty good at it. I started out taking photos only for my friend Kylie’s blog and I had no idea I’d be where I am with my photography business! I am so glad that I found a hobby that I love so much. I absolutely love taking photos! You can see some of my work here or the photo above is one example of one that I captured!
I am a homebody
An ideal night for me is at home with my boys (Zachary, Jax, and Henry). I love to entertain in my home too which will only get better once we find a house! Don’t get me wrong I love to go out to eat, but you will never catch me in a club and rarely out at the bars. I would much rather catch up on my shows, play with my dogs, and be comfortable! Who’s with me?!
I love to travel and there are so many new places I want to see
I’ve been to Canada, Spain, France, Mexico, and Italy as far as international travels go. Next on my list are taking Zachary to Italy, Greece, St. Lucia, Amsterdam, Canada again, Zachary really wants to go to Japan. As far as U.S. goes I’ve been to the majority of the east coast and southern states, but I’ve never been past Texas going west! I would love to go to Colorado, Utah, California, back to Texas, Chicago, take Zachary to New Orleans, and Charleston will likely be the next city we go to. I have the travel bug and I want to see all the places!
My day job is in marketing
My first job out of college was with the Tampa Bay Lightning doing digital marketing and it was probably the best job I will ever have as far as fun jobs go. I met some great friends there that I absolutely adore and still hang out with and worked there during two playoff runs which was insane! I loved every second of it, but all good things must come to an end. I left this past fall to pursue a job at an agency that focusses on digital media. It’s totally different than my last job, but I have learned so much in such a short amount of time!
I eat gluten free because I have to
So many people assume that I eat gluten free because it’s “trendy” right now. WHAT? NO. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone! I do this because I have food allergies to wheat, barley, and rye among other things. I’ve been doing it for almost six years now so it’s second nature, but at first it was SO hard! Also, there are so many more gluten free options in grocery stores and at restaurants now because it’s 2017 which makes it easy!
I hope you got to know me a little better through this post! As promised here are a few bonus facts that my sister thought you should know…
I drive like a grandma.
I play piano. (In reality, I know basic piano. I wouldn’t really say I can play the piano well).
The more excited I get the louder I get.
The sound of people chewing drives me nuts.
I was born on the same day as Todd Christly and Candace Cameron Bure
My Dad is often confused for Chuck Norris. (You can’t make this stuff up people!)
I am short.
There you have it folks! Enjoy your friday and happy weekend!
